#Can't turn off ssl in mac mail for smtp server after sierra update site:discussions.apple.com upgrade#

Runing Snow Leopard 10.6.8.īut my iPhone 3GS running 4.3.3 because I use Cydia and am jailbroken and told I can't upgrade (but I am NOT having the same email problem there… email is fine with iOS). I'm on an early 2012 MacBook Pro and a same vintage iMac. I downloaded Postbox, and it behaves the same way.įor incoming connections all 3 accounts are set to port 995 with SSL.įor outgoing comcast and gmail are using default port with SSL checked but Machighway just yesterday asked me to select custom port and type in 587 and UNCHECK SSL. I can send via gmail from the Mail app (but not from comcast or machighway).

Ensure that the Use custom port option is selected and type 587. Click the Advanced tab, verify the settings given below, and then click OK. Sorry I missed that bit of information.ĭitto the exact same things as Don Hutchinson1 is saying about connection doctor having all green lights, all smtp connections are shown as offline EXCEPT for gmail. Click the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down menu, and then click Edit Server List. And interestingly, their error message says to check to see if my firewall or antivirus app is preventing sending. I downloaded the Postbox app, and it also will only send from my gmail account as well.

That is what I did and it didn't change anything. My ISP told me to turn off SSL for outgoing and use port 587. They will receive from all 3 accounts however. Both computers will only send out through gmail. I can also send through all my (3) email accounts from my iPhone just fine… just not from iMac or MacBook Pro. Also, I have perfect use of my email incoming and outgoing using MacHighway's webmail. I had changed nothing to do with the settings of my email app. This problem just started 2 days ago (this past Friday). I've been trading email for 2 days with my ISP on this issue. I was just on the phone with them and they had me type in exactly what information and settings they wanted to suit their purposes.
